DARIO FRANCHITTI (No. 10 Target Chip Ganassi Racing, winner Honda Indy Toronto): "I guess we timed it right with strategy. We really struggled in that first stint, towards the end. We really used up the reds and I was struggling. Then I got stuck by some really slow cars in the middle stint - (Mario)_Moraes in particular didn't do the same thing twice in any corner, so I just stayed out of his way, but I couldn't get past him. Then we came in (to the pits) just as it went yellow, and it helped me get close to the front. I passed a couple cars and then on the restarts, I was able to take off. The Target car was fast on the restarts and we were really able to take off. It's 10 years since my first one here and it feel good." (About team owner Chip Ganassi missing the race): "I spent a lot of years chasing the Target cars here and finishing behind. I have to thank Chip. He gave me the opportunity to come back here and drive these cars. So, thanks."
GRAHAM RAHAL (No. 02 McDonald's Racing Team, finished 20th ): "It was a frustrating day for the McDonald's boys. Right from the start the race was bad because (Will) Power didn't try to stay in his lane on the start. It's as easy at that; you're supposed to be two wide and he wasn't. He came straight across and just took off my front wing. So right away we were fighting an uphill battle and those are the worst races because it's so frustrating when you know you're out of the game at the start. After coming in for the wing change I just tried to recover. We had pretty good lap times but I just couldn't hang in there being behind Danica. She would brake so early and I was bad at judging where she was going to hit the brakes because it was inconsistent, but always early and I ended up flat-spotting my tires. I tried to recover from that as well and then tried to pass Ed. Danica dove in (ahead of Ed) and Ed stayed wide so I dove underneath him and got mid-corner and he turned in while I was there. I tried to back out but I was pinched. That was it for us. I'm not going to blame him though because I should have known that's what he would do. The whole idea today was to get some points and close on fifth place but now (fifth place) Danica gained a lot of points and moved further away."
ROBERT DOORNBOS (No. 06 Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing, finished 23rd): "I had a great start and was up four positions. I got the maximum out of that and was up to third and running strong and settled into our strategy of saving fuel. We were looking good and then the gearbox started performing less good on the downshifts and it slowly got worse until we ended up with no ability to shift. It's a very frustrating end to the race given the potential we showed at the start."
PAUL TRACY (No. 15 Ontario Honda Dealers/woundedwarriors.ca): "It's hard to say (what happened). We were racing really hard and (Helio Castroneves) was saving fuel and coasting at the end of the backstraightaway. I made a move down the inside pretty easily. I closed in on him really rapidly. He didn't block, he left me the room to get in there and I got in but then we got hooked up wheel to wheel and we got intertwined. We just seemed to be able to not get off of each other. I'm not saying he squeezed me, I didn't try to squeeze him, it was just one of those things. You've got to look at the big picture, I've got nothing to lose, I'm here to win and he's racing for a points title. He was going to have to pit anyway because he wasn't going to make it 10 laps further than anyone without more fuel. I don't think it was intentional, but you know you've got to pick your battles." (About relationship with Helio Castroneves): "We're like oil and water that's for sure." (About being placed behind Franchitti after caution): "I'm baffled that we weren't the theoretical leader on the track. I passed Dario (Franchitti) while he was in the pit lane and they reversed the position. I've never seen that happen in all my days of racing where you beat a guy out on the track while he's still in the pit and you change positions." (About returning to race in Toronto): "It just felt good to be back out here in front of the hometown and show what I can do. It feels good to be in your home town, it's a thrill."
RYAN HUNTER-REAY (No. 14 ABC Supply/A.J. Foyt Racing, finished seventh): "I'm happy for these guys to be able to roll the ABC car back in the truck and it's nice not having anyone run into us on the first lap. We got going good early and we had a good car and then we got caught out on a full course yellow with our pit strategy. We had been running 5th and then we were 16th but we were able to work our way back up and get a top ten, thanks in part to good clean pit stops. So it's a big positive for the ABC Supply team. Maybe we finally got that monkey got our back."
RYAN BRISCOE (No. 6 Team Penske, finished second): "It was a tough day. I got run into going into Turn 3 on the first lap and cut a tire. That really put us back. We made some pretty dramatic changes to the car coming into the race today. We just had our fingers crossed going into it. The car felt awesome and we were able to put in some really good lap times. It was a fun race with lots of passing.
WILL POWER: (No. 12 Penske Truck Rentals, finished third): "We were almost a lap down, and I didn't realized that I hadn't done my two laps on the reds, so we had to pit again and put the reds on til the end. It was a good result. I had so much fun. I never passed so many cars before in a race." (About the start): "I think the car went sideways, and touched Graham Rahal's front wing."
SCOTT DIXON (No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing, finished fourth): "The car was really good. We were strong today. I think we probably made the most passes. Our pit team was pretty good also. I'm pleased with the car but not with the result. All-in-all I think we had a really decent day we just got really screwed on that pit strategy, when the yellow comes out and you get stuck all the way in the back."
JUSTIN WILSON (No. 18 Z-Line Designs, finished fifth): "It was ok, not too bad. Thats how it goes some days. We just had to survive and it was pretty tough out there. I think it got us some good points, but that's racing, you just have to keep working at it and sometimes things go your way and sometimes they don't" (About battle with Will Power): "I think Will got a run on me to get position, and then Will was just plain blocking, so since that last restart he slowed right down and let the leaders pull away and then did his own restart. It's just how it goes. We beat up on Penske and Ganassi last week and they got their own back this week."
HELIO CASTRONEVES (No. 3 Team Penske):"Unfortunately it was a tough way for us to end our weekend in Toronto. We had good race strategy and were running really well. I thought I had given (Paul Tracy) enough room to get by but we got together and that was it. It's too bad. If there's one guy that I didn't want that to happen with, it's PT, especially here in Canada. I feel bad for the fans. They were great and I still love Toronto. Team Penske will be back and hopefully we can turn things around and get a good result in Edmonton."
DANICA PATRICK (No. 7 Boost Mobile/Motorola, finished 6th): "You definitely have to be aggressive on street courses, and today we were. We started in the back of the field and fought our way up to the front. The Boost Mobile/Motorola guys did a great job in the pits and they made the right calls with the strategy. I lost a few positions on the second to last restart, but I was trying to save fuel. But it's a great result considering the weekend we had. I have to thank all the fans for coming out today, and I can't wait to come back next year."
TONY KANAAN (No. 11 Team 7-Eleven/Nestle Pure Life): "It was a disappointing weekend all around for the Nestle Pure Life team. The guys worked so hard to get the car together yesterday, which makes it even more disappointing. There at the end we had a chance to have a solid finish but made some contact and it ended our day early."
MARCO ANDRETTI (No. 26 NYSE iShares, finished 8th): "It didn't turn out as too bad of a day for the NYSE iShares car considering it seemed to turn into an attrition race. We were able make it to the end and work our way toward the front. The #26 car was quick on the black tires so the longer stint we ran on reds cost us some time and I think we lost a little ground there. The boys did a great job in the pits all day and we're nearing the top-five in points. Overall I'm happy with the top-ten finish today."
HIDEKI MUTOH (No. 27 Formula Dream): "It's been a very frustrating weekend for the Formula Dream team and I am disappointed that I didn't have a better finish. We couldn't find the right setup so we had to make a pit stop to made adjustments and that put the #27 car a lap down. Hopefully Edmonton will be better for us in a couple of weeks."
EJ VISO (No. 13 PDVSA HVM Racing):"We were having a very good race. We were a bit scared at the start of the race because we didn't test (in the warm-up), and we had plenty of changes to the car because we had a little mechanical failure. I need to say that the changes were all positive, everything was going good and we had a good strategy. Everything was paying off. Then I had a big hit on the rear tire, and I got a flat tire because Moraes got into me in the braking of Corner 3. That's disappointing. That's what put me in Position 13. Then when the race was over, I already had my visor open, I was drinking water - you can see it in the video - and he came once more. He just hit me and spun me in the back straight. I can't understand what he was thinking. The race was over."
TOMAS SCHECKTER (No. 23 MonaVie Dreyer & Reinbold): This crew put so much effort in and come here to Canada, we're launching an energy drink next week. And it's just unfortunate, we tried so hard, and we're leading the race there, we just dug deep and drove a hard race the whole race and for just such a stupid mistake by (Alex) Tagliani just to hit me straight up from behind when (Mario Moraes) has got a broken wing in front. I passed him and then I got a hit from behind. Just uncalled for, people racing with no brains"
MARIO MORAES (No. 5 1800Tequila/Votarantim/KV Racing Technology):"I just feel sorry for the KV Racing Technology crew. They did a great job preparing the car for the race and to have it end the way it did is a shame. We were having a great race, running in the top five easy. Then I was trying to overtake (EJ) Viso, he was one lap down and blocking everyone. I was side-by-side with him going into Turn 3, and he broke my front wing. It really is a shame."
RAPHAEL MATOS (No. 2 US Marines Luczo Dragon Racing): This was the most difficult race of the season, it was very challenging. There were a lot of drivers taking a lot of risks and that's why so many guys didn't finish. It was good for us to get another top 10 and pick up some points. The Marines Luczo Dragon team did a really good job all weekend. We just keep progressing as a team and I keep getting more and more experience. It was important for us to finish for our confidence and for the sponsors, but we're a little disappointed because we had a much better car than 10th place.
ED CARPENTER (No. 20 Vision/William Rast/Lilly Racing): "There sure was a lot of action, but I'm just really disappointed in myself. Everything was looking good yesterday when we had a really good qualifying effort, and we were trying to build on that in the race. Every street course this year, I've managed to spoil our efforts. These races turn into attrition races every time and instead of taking advantage, I've done something to set us back. I have to apologize to William Rast, Menards, Johns Manville and Lilly, and especially all the guys that work hard on this team.We had something to be happy about yesterday, and today I threw it all away trying to get my rear tires cleaned off before the restart and just lit them up and lost it. It was a stupid mistake."
